Andrew White appointed as ARfuels MD

Melbourne, Australia; The consolidation of the Australian biodiesel industry by public listed company ARfuels (ASX:ARW) has continued with the appointment of a well-known industry leader, Andrew White, as the company’s Managing Director.

The recent acquisition of biodiesel company, Biodiesel Producers Limited, has seen ARfuels strengthen its Board of Directors, with former Chief Executive Officer Tom Engelsman taking over the helm of Executive Chairman.

“With Andrew in this crucial management role, the company will be able to leverage all resources to focus on the optimal performance of the assets, as well allowing the further strategic development of opportunities, both in the feed stock area, as well as in the business expansion”, Said Tom Engelsman, Executive Chairman of ARfuels Limited.

White’s appointment signals an intention for the company to further leverage the strengths of both companies in key management roles, which the Board considers pivotal in capitalising on the company’s position as the only national biodiesel company in Australia.

“ARfuels acquisition of Biodiesel Producers Limited has cemented the positioning of the company as Australia’s leading biodiesel producer,” said White.

“Together, our philosophy is to combine the strengths of both organisations, and continue to lead the way in producing the highest quality biodiesel for companies in Australia.

“We have commenced a new era where global warming and the effects of the new carbon tax are ensuring that companies see biodiesel as not only an alternative, but something that needs to be placed on the agenda right now.

“The recent changes to anti-dumping restrictions, as well as the extension of the fuel incentives, have created an environment which allows the current installation capacity of some 150 million litres per annum to be utilised in the market.

“Given that Australia currently uses some 18 billion litres per year of fossil based diesel, half of which is imported, it is clear that the usage of an alternate locally produced fuel will not only have major benefit for the environment, but will also positively impact the trade balance for the country.”

“Many of Australia’s leading companies are either using biodiesel or are currently undergoing biodiesel trials.”

Andrew White was most recently a Director and Chief Operating Officer of Infrastructure Capital Group Limited, an investment management business with over $1 billion of equity funds under management and invested in infrastructure across Australia.

He led Biodiesel Producers Limited (BPL), an unlisted public company that manufactures biodiesel from tallow and waste cooking oil as the Managing Director. With contracts established with Shell, Finemores, Border Express, Greenfreight and other large users of fuels, BPL’s acquisition has ensured that ARfuels geographic reach extends into the east-coast of Australia.

White has sat on the Board and Management Committees for various large energy projects including Neerabup Power Station (330mW), Kwinana Power Station (320mW) and the Esperance Energy Project (336km Kambalda to Esperance Gas Pipeline and energy station).

With a chartered accounting background, White also worked for 8 years with Arthur Andersen and 9 years in senior executive roles including Finance Director and Strategic Planning Director with Mars Inc in Australia and New Zealand.
